Extremely Rare American Classic

This absolutely gorgeous, exceedingly rare 1953 Muntz Road Jet has just completed a three-and-a-half year total restoration. Over $140,000 has been invested and all receipts are present. The car has been appraised at $158,200, however the seller has a low and very approachable reserve price. This masterpiece will be sold. The most recent sale of an UNRESTORED Muntz Jet brought a price of $75,000 at an Atlantic City, NJ auction in March.

A pristine example of one of the rarest and most dramatic period cars in US auto history, this Muntz Jet is now literally better than when it rolled off eclectic Earl Muntz's 'handmade' assembly line. There are only 12 known 1953 Jets left and none are finer than this one.

Everything is new or has been restored and remade as new. From the new 12-gauge steel floor pans (originals were thin 20 gauge) to the new 12-gauge steel rocker panels, the chassis and structural integrity of this jewel of American auto history is solid as a rock and commands the road exactly like its name implies.

The handsome, powerful 331 Cadillac OHV V-8 has been completely remanufactured and the speedometer shows less than 20 miles. It purrs like a tiger. The hydromatic transmission has been remade by a master of the craft and shifts with remarkable smoothness and authority. The interior is flawless...even the trunk has been completely upholstered in plush detail. Both hood and trunk electric releases work flawlessly and the doors close with precision and solidity.

The 72 spoke cross-laced stainless and chrome wheels with knock-off hubs bring the car to the highest level of elegance and stylistic appearance. From the fuel tank to the instruments to the totally new wiring and complete auto glass, no expense was spared in restoring this extremely rare masterpiece to better than new condition.

The sweeping beauty and intrigue of the design lines of this rarest of 1950s production classics is an unforgettable statement of what truly great automobile manufacturing and vision once represented. It's easy to see how they were snapped up by movie stars like Clark Gable, Clara Bow, Marilyn Monroe, Mario Lanza and many, many others.
