The photo is from an original source archive and has not been altered. Clearly, Buck was a hayseed. A simple Ozark farmer. I live in Arkansas and to this day I see hand-painted signs with the letter 'S' inverted.

Look also at the choice of stencils -- he had an "A" but chose to use an upside down V everywhere else in the sign for A. He had no "S" stencil and put that in by hand, likely with a brush along with his rather well executed painting of a classic saucer. Without that stencil, he would have likely had many other letters backwards. This photo is not a discredit to anyone, nor intended to make fun of someone, it's a moment of history. Even kind, simple-minded people have had extraordinary experiences. Just the fact that a "hayseed" in the Ozarks would rally a CONVENTION because of his experience tells us a lot about Buck Nelson's integrity and character. While others remained shut-mouthed about their experiences, others boldly and bravely forged new roads in educated the general public about what "science" wants us to believe is "nonsense." -James Neff/Webmaster/Rense.com
