- ISLAMABAD (Reuters) - The
Taliban's official Voice of Shariat radio said on Monday that U.S.-led
attacks on the Afghan capital Kabul overnight had caused no casualties
or material damage in the city.
-
- The radio, monitored by the British Broadcasting
Corporation
(BBC), said the airstrikes had only boosted morale in the country and
Afghanistan
would fight "to its last breath of life."
-
- Earlier, the Pakistan-based Afghan Islamic Press reported
at least 20 people had died in the attacks unleashed to punish Kabul for
harbouring Saudi-born fugitive Osama bin Laden, prime suspect for the
September
11 attacks in the United States.
-
- "There has not been any human or material damage
yet," the radio said at 0730 local time (0330gmt).
-
- It praised the country's army and said its morale had
been boosted by the attacks.
-
- "The well-organised and brave army of the Islamic
Emirate will defend its Muslim nation and each metre of the country to
its last breath of life," it said.
