 MACACHIN (Agencia) - It became
known on Wednesday that several cows had been found dead under mysterious
circumstances in fields of the Rivera and Macachín regions, showing
incisions and removal of organs. One of the affected parties showed this
newspaper a videotape and explained that he had found a dead cow whose
organs had been removed through incisions, showing "evident signs
of cauterization."

- One of the new cases in the hitherto unexplained wave
of bovine deaths through mutilation was recorded last weekend on the property
owned by the Diez family in Arano, a property some 20 km west of Rivera.
On Wednseday, the landowner's son showed LA ARENA a video and explained
his experience. "My father found the dead animal last Saturday and
discussed it in the afternoon upon his return. We immediately went back
with a friend and saw that it had several strange incisions whose edges
showed signs of an intense heat which cauterized the wound."

- According to the young man and what appears on the videotape,
the cow presents a perfectly round mark around its ocular cavity, from
which the orb was competely missing. It also had incisions on the upper
and lower maxilla; the tongue had been cut out "with signs of high
temperature."

- Another incision began in the abdominal area and progressed
toward the tail, where it was perfectly skinned back, revealing the absence
of mammary glands, reproductive organs, anus and intestines. However,
the most curious detail was that a veterinarian took an interest in the
case and was authorized to visit the site on Monday.

- Oddly, he informed the Diez family that the animal's
left ear had been cleanly cut away with signs of heat manipulation, despite
the fact that the ear could be clearly seen in the videotape.

- Another strange case was recorded on the property of
Macachín-area cattleman Pedro Miller, located some 15 km southeast
of Macachín. The police paid a cursory visit to the visit accompanied
by a veterinarian.

- The animal, a red heifer, was found dead in a strange
position: spread out on its four extremities. It also betrayed the customary
incisions in the mouth area and the ears. Finally, a new case emerged
last week on a field belonging to the Kuperschmidt family, some 15 km
south of Rivera, where the strange events affected three steers. The reports
were confirmed by the local headquarters of the Prov. of Buenos Aires

Rio Colorado, missing their tongues, eyes and udders, and showing no signs
