Former WorldCom CFO,
Controller Charged

8-1-2

Former WorldCom Chief Financial Officer Scott Sullivan and former Controller David Myers were charged with one count of conspiracy to commit securities fraud, one count of securities fraud, and five counts of filing false statements with the SEC.

WorldCom, the nation's No. 2 long distance carrier, was not charged in the criminal complaint filed by prosecutors in Manhattan federal court. The SEC previously filed a civil fraud suit against the company.

The two men had surrendered earlier Thursday to the FBI and are expected to be presented in Manhattan federal court later in the day.

The U.S. Department of Justice is expected to hold a news conference on Thursday afternoon about the arrests and charges.
