- KUWAIT CITY (AFP) -- Some
74 per cent of more than 15,000 people surveyed in Kuwait consider Osama
bin Laden, head of the Al-Qaeda terror network, a hero, a newspaper reported
on Tuesday.
-
- Al-Rai Al-Aam said it conducted a survey of 15,029 Kuwaitis
and expatriates living in the emirate, of whom 8,695 said bin Laden was
a hero while 2,273 people, or 19.43 per cent, thought he was a criminal.
-
- Another 727 people, or 6.21 per cent, said they were
not concerned.
-
- Individuals who were polled sent their answers through
the SMS (short messaging service) mobile phone system, the daily said,
adding that 3,334 people sent inaccurate answers.
-
- The results were therefore calculated on the basis of
the 11,695 people who answered correctly, it said.
-
- Respondents were simply asked whether they considered
bin Laden a "hero" or a "criminal."
