man and rape of his wife by a black gunman has taken place in Glen Marais,
Kempton Park. The family was asleep in the early hours of Saturday, when
a black dressed only in his underpants forced open a door, and held the
man, his wife and their 18-year-old daughter at gunpoint. The man tied
the three up in the main bedroom and tried to rape the mother on her bed.
When the father became distressed, he fired shots which critically wounded
the man in his back. Not satisfied with this, the attacker stabbed the
man in his chest with a sharp object, killing him. The murderer then stole
some items and dragged the mother outside the house to the swimming pool
where he raped her. He then disappeared into the darkness.

between the local police station commander, who is a black political appointment,
and attacks by black killers and robbers on farms in the district. On the
same day that white farmer Rinus Smith (27) was murdered, 'Captain' Vincent
Tebogo Makoko (29) was arrested on charges of helping and supplying weapons
to fellow-blacks attacking local farmers. Pieter Möller, manager of
Freestate Agriculture, said the charge against Makoko was linked to break-ins
and 'crime' on farms, and he asked how far one can trust the very people
