- LAHORE (ANI): Pakistan has
sealed its border with Afghanistan, effectively blocking the entry of refugees
from the neighbouring country into its own soil after Foreign Minister
Khurshid Kasuri announced that the new government under Prime Minister
Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali would continue to play its role as a frontline
state in the US-led war against terrorism.
-
- The decision to this effect has come out after Pakistan
and Afghanistan agreed to repatriate the remaining 1.8 million refugees,
lodged in various camps of the country, within three years' time and to
prevent further inflow into its territories, says The Nation.
-
- The agreement was reached between the two countries during
the Federal Minister Aftab Sherpao's meeting with the Afghan Minister for
Refugees and Repatriation, Enayatullah Nazari, on Tuesday last.
-
- Islamabad also fears that the members of Al-Qaeda network
and Taliban hardliners may enter Pakistani territory along with the refugees.
-
- In order to prevent the inflow of refugees, the authorities
have brought in vital changes in the political administration of the Federally
Administered Tribal Areas.(ANI)
