Homeland Defense Begins
At Our Borders

Unless America makes a radical change in its immigration policies, you can say goodbye to your freedom and your security.

We are in the midst of the largest sustained wave of immigration in the history of our nation. The foreign-born population of the United States has tripled since the 1970s. The foreign-born population of the U.S. grew from 19.8 million, or 7.9 percent of the population, in 1990 to more than 31 million, or 11.1 percent of the population, in 2000, according to the Census Bureau. More immigrants arrived in the U.S. during the 1990s than the total of all immigrants living in the country in 1970.

Some might look at those statistics and ask, "So what?" For those who haven't recognized the way out-of-control immigration has changed our culture, let me give you something else to think about: Sept. 11.

On that date we all should have recognized the dangers posed to our national security from this internal threat. There are bad people in this world who want to do America harm - and they will use our lax immigration policies as a weapon against us.

Sadly, however, the U.S. has not taken any significant steps since the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, to control our borders. Even temporary visas for Middle Eastern students, tourists and businessmen have gone unchecked. Immigrant visas are essentially sold. The borders are not borders at all - but merely lines on a map. No one is being deported.

As Paul Sperry reported in WorldNetDaily, following the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, the Immigration and Naturalization Service announced it would round up 314,000 illegal alien "absconders," foreigners who have gone into hiding rather than obey lawful orders to leave the U.S. In effect, these people have at least twice broken the law - once when they entered the country illegally and the second time when they refused to leave after lengthy processing and adjudication of their cases. Yet, to date, the INS has done almost nothing about these invaders and law-breakers. Only about 895 have actually been located, and the INS won't say how many of those have been deported.

But it gets even worse. One of President Clinton's last acts in power was to sign Executive Order 13166, which mandates local governments provide services to foreigners in whatever language they speak - making no distinction between legal and illegal immigrants.

Throughout the U.S., Americans are not only tolerating this invasion, they are paying the invaders with transfers of wealth through a myriad of public assistance programs.

Of course, no one really knows how many illegal aliens are living in America. Estimates run between 8.7 million (the Census) to 11 million (Northeastern University study).

Whether or not we were facing a terrorist threat from global jihadists, the immigration invasion would be threatening to our nation security. America is a self-governing sovereign nation because it upholds certain principles and values espoused in our Declaration of Independence and U.S. Constitution. Does anyone believe the millions of recent illegal immigrant invaders are coming here to live under the rule of law? By definition they are lawbreakers. By definition their first act upon coming to this country was to break the law. Do we really expect they are good candidates to become self-governing, law-abiding Americans who contribute more to their society than they take?

But since Sept. 11 a graver threat has surfaced. It should now be clear to every single American we cannot absorb an unlimited and unregulated number of foreigners without paying a severe price for it.

Drug runners and terrorists are taking advantage of laissez faire border and immigration policies to attack us, to undermine us, to destroy us.

You've seen the photos of Middle Eastern men walking across the southern border with their Mexican coyote guides. You've read the reports of Arabic-language literature being found near border crossings. You've seen the evidence of jihadists working hand-in-hand with Mexican activists in their hopes of creating America's own little "Palestinian state" of Aztlan in the southwest.

What are we waiting for, people? Is this generation going to sit by as America is destroyed? Are you going to wait until politicians in Washington do something about this mess? Or are you going to rise up in righteous anger and demand the following:

* an end to all government subsidies of illegal aliens

* the lockdown of our borders - no matter what the cost

* the firing of all top INS officials who do not enforce the laws

* the recruitment of local officials and civilians to enforce the laws the federal government is incapable or unwilling to enforce?

Note - We would add one more item to Mr. Farah's list: The immediate deportation of ALL
illegal aliens, no matter what their race, creed or country of national origin.
