- Dear Jeff,
-
- It seems to me the world is a bit confused where most
of the American people stand on our pre-emptive war strategy on Iraq and
then the rest Middle East. Judging by the comments of many "world
leaders", I believe there is a misunderstanding of the over-all position
of the American People - the people who will actually have to fight, die,
and suffer for the war that only a handful of men desire. It seems that
when one hears any news about what the Brits think, they are obviously
against the war with Iraq...as well as the aggressive views of Tony Blair.
-
- But what is their impression of what we Americans think?
It appears that much of the rest of the world thinks the American people
back Emperor 'W' without question. Where did this idea come from? CNN
or our other mainstream media?
-
- If I were to believe the media, my impression would be
that only France and Germany and Iraq are opposed to war. But we know that's
not true, right? If I was told that CNN didn't air much of the anti-war
marches and protests of millions of Americans to people in other lands,
I wouldn't be surprised. How in the world could Bush enlist the people
of other nations to kill if they knew we didn't want to kill, either?
-
- Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chretien says, "If
they (the Americans) want to go there (Iraq) all alone, they can go there
all alone, but we say they must go with the authorization of the United
Nations." I, along with many Americans, agree with the Canadian Prime
Minister. We should wait for the UN. However, I would also like to make
it clear to Jean Chretien, that as a people, We don't want to go to war
with Iraq at all. George W. Bush wants war...not the majority of the people
he was 'elected' to serve. If the average American was stopped on the
street and asked if he or she wanted to launch a pre-emptive war against
Iraq, the majority of the answers would be a resounding "NO".
-
- (Most of the minority 'yes' answers would be provided
by the couch jockeys who have been watching too much "news",
have probably taped themselves in an air tight room, and who often think
that Osama bin Laden and Saddam Hussein are the same person...as a recent
poll discovered.)
-
- I have read comments from individuals from around the
world who are under the impression that "we the people" actually
have any say in the events taking place in our government. Sadly, I would
like to inform them that things have changed here in America since the
Constitution and Bill Of Rrights were drawn up in 1787 and 1789.
-
-
-
- Our political system has been eroded to such a degree
that now our government is much like theirs....America now has a sad group
of greedy leaders who don't care much for, or have respect for, the people
of America. The are, however, more than interested in their own rise to
power and their personal financial portfolios. Our "president"
refers to us - (his employers) as a "Focus Group" to which he
doesn't feel the need to listen. If this doesn't paint the picture of reality,
I don't know what does. This brings me once again to my point: I'm only
asking that we now, as a whole, refer to this unwanted pre-emptive war
on Iraq not as what the "Americans" want but what the Bush Cabal
wants. This will be Emperor Bush's war and we should call it just that.
Even Osama bin Laden has referred to it as "Bush's War". So,
please understand from someone who is immersed in the daily insanity here,
that the word on the streets here in America is: "We know that Saddam
is a bad man, but we do not support a pre-emptive war on Iraq. Let the
UN do its job and then let's decide the fate of Iraq together." And
the best advice I could give to all Americans, turn OFF your TV. They don't
call it programming for nothing! We are being led by a bunch of news engines
which are interested in RATINGS, not real news.
-
- TV is about fantasy and fiction. If 95% of everything
on TV is fiction, why do you think that the other 5% is real?? How are
the news agencies going to hold your attention without drama and suffering
and death? Do they need to add a laugh track for you also? Can't you see
the power and authority that you give to the media to control your actions?
Doesn't that empty shelf where there used to be Duct Tape or plastic sheeting
give you any indication of how little we think for ourselves?
-
- Turn OFF the TV and turn ON your brain. Time is running
out and I believe the rest of the world is expecting US to do something
about our "president's" actions. Let's not end up like the German
population after WWII. I personally don't want to be one of the many sheep
saying "I was just doing as I was told. CNN gave me orders."
-
- Let's work toward peace on planet earth.

- Thanks, Deon Staffelbach
