There is no justification possible for Sen. McCarthy, no matter how express
or vehement ones views are against communism. The simple fact is, Joseph
McCarthy, like the witch trials of generations past, represents the absolute
worst in the American spirit, and to make him into a hero is to glorify
everything wicked in the political strata now rife with hypocrisy and dirty
dealings as par for the course.
McCarthy cannot be vindicated today simply because he knew there were communists
in Hollywood; that was never the issue of "McCarthyism" as there
has never been any doubt that communists operate at various levels THROUGHOUT
the country (not merely Hollywood) -- the true issue developed AFTER he
misused the power of the Gov't to openly violate the Constitutional liberties
of countless citizens who have a right to hold whatever political persuasion
they desire. Including communism. That's America.

journalists and writers to vindicate McCarthy in name of anti-communism,

country. Makow attempts to participate in the polarization of the people
by more or less suggesting that it is communists/socialists/liberals (and
somehow he manages to take that all important nationalistic hatred to a
darker level and bring the Jews into it under a label!) who hate McCarthy,
as if it is wrong to despise someone who corrupts the powers of his office,
as if it is immoral to cherish the Constitutional Republic which protects
us all from such tyranny as McCarthy unleashed upon the presumed guilty
(the anti-thesis of what our laws and principles reflect) -- and the horrible
result of "guilt by association" which ruined lives and livelihoods
far and wide. Was it worth it, in order to skulk out a few Russian plants?
Absolutely not, and those who support such unconstitutional efforts are
also enemies of the Constitution and the people which it protects - knowingly
or unknowingly.

has been. A&E has produced several "history of hollywood"
documentaries which openly and proudly proclaim a decidedly, uniquely Jewish
ownership/influence/control of the entertainment industry dating back to
pre-vaudeville, and this includes, as a group, generally holding to vastly
more socialistic principles than the average American. (A&E is so evidently
Jewish-influenced that Yiddish curse words are bleeped on programs; example,
Mel Brooks' "Blazing Saddles," -- not only was the word "nigger"

but the word "Schtup" (Yiddish for 'fuck') was removed, as well
as blurred out on a poster for Madeline Kahn's lead character "Lilly
Von Schtup" on a wall in several scenes. One will not find the Yiddish
removed in the national network editings of the movie). Making "Communist/Hollywood
Jewery" into a bogeyman is simply damned ridiculous. If one looks
back at the great days of Hollywood under substantially Jewish control,
from executives to writers, one sees a sustained moral message which either
calls upon the individual human spirit to triumph over adversaries or encourages
freedom for freedom's sake, not rampany communistic principles. Such subtle
suggestions were almost always pitched against a backdrop of well understood
brain-dead nationalism burning like a fever and crushing the worker, the
common man, the every-man. These are not values to despise!

everywhere).

everywhere know this name is synonimous with tyranny. Not merely "liberals."

Sir, I haven't a Marxist bone in my body! I am a political conservative
and have been for more than 25 years. There is a vast difference between
saying McCarthy was right (ie, that he knew communist infiltrators were
active in America) and saying what McCarthy DID was right. What he did
was wrong. Dead wrong. One does not violate the Constitutional rights and
liberties of citizens of the United States in order to protect the Constitution!
It's that very violation of the Constitution that is bringing the swift
downfall of this great nation. WE THE PEOPLE did not conduct the House
Un-American Activities hearings! Sen. McCarthy did, to much controversy
and political upset because the methods he used were unconstitutional.
If you believe it is acceptable to generate fear or government reprisal
against citizens the way McCarthy did, for holding to political opinions
which were counter to the administration/times, then you, too, are an enemy
of THE PEOPLE and the Constitution. People lived in fear of associating
with others because of their political persuasions, studies, curiosities,
what they read, meetings or rally's they attended that were NOT Communist
at all, but McCarthy used a method of harassment and psychological manipulation
which was designed to snare not merely the real Communist infiltrators,
but to bring to ruin anyone who even had the slightest leaning away from
the status quo, mainstream politics of the day. That, in a word, is the
birth of fascism, which always operates by fear, intimidation and polarization
of peoples. McCarthy didn't save us from Communism, all he did was destroy
the lives of people who were foolish enough to believe that they had Constitutional
liberties to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness, who thought that in
America, land of the free, men had the right to seek out knowledge and
hold unpopular political views without fear of the Goverment treading them
down. It took someone like Joe McCarthy to demonstrate that the Constitution
isn't worth the paper its written on unless moral guardians of its principles
are in power and weild that power with justice, fairness and equity. This
he did not do. He cohersed people into ratting on others, who turned out
to have done nothing more than attend a meeting to hear someone speak about
alternatives in government - creating a blacklist and ruining lives in
the process. That stain should never afflict any citizen, and especially
not by government powers. We have the right to think and assemble and worship
and publish here, and that includes things which one might disagree with
or disapprove of. THAT is the very core and purpose of the Constitution
and the bill of rights. It seems people like you have decided the Constitution
should only protect people who think, act and believe as you do.
If the rest of my commentary is so easily refuted, please do so! Don't
just through out a meaningless ad homonym to make people think you know
something "else" you don't have time or the ability to divulge!
And I dare say, if the shoe was on the other foot, and it was you being
called into such a committee, before the public, and your words, lifestyle,
beliefs, political persuasions and opinions were manipulated against a
fear-based propaganda running wild in society, you'd feel quite differently
about such a Senator... especially if he were some PC-headed leftist. EH???
