Charges Of Urandir UFO
Bedsheet Hoax In Brazil Escalate

Hi,

Re: photos on Linda's Web site

It's apparent that Urandir had used his bed, removing the marked-up bedding and putting it back on for more picture-taking.

If that's the case, Linda, those photos that were taken after the evidence had been removed, and put back, ought not to be shown on your Web site.

Examine the first Urandir photo shown on this page:

http://earthfiles.com/news/news.cfm?ID=543&category=Science

Notice the distance between the upper part of arm ((burn mark)) and the bottom edge of the pillow. Secondly, notice how far that sheet comes down along side the upper edge of the bed in that photo ((video clip)).

Now examine the second Urandir photo on this page, and notice the differences between the points of measurement mentioned above ((scroll down to the photo)): http://earthfiles.com/

Both the sheet and pillow have been moved several inches from their original, after-abduction positions.

For what reason was the bedding removed and put back on ((or shifted)), Linda?

Also, notice in the first-linked photo how far the burn marks for the head ((on the pillow)) are from the upper edge of the mark that represents his arm, as if Urandir necks were too long. It's not anatomically correct in that photo, but more closely fits in the markings in the second-linked photo.

Again, any photos taken after the bedding had been taken off and put back on ((or shifted)) ought not to be posted for obvious reasons, as the differences between the after-abduction photos and those taken after the bedding had been handled may lead some folks to charge perpetration of a hoax.

Best,

Richard

1. A good investigative journalist is objective.

2. A good investigative journalist doesn't get personal with the person being investigated.

3. A good investigative journalist doesn't accept payment in any form.

4. A good investigative journalist doesn't sensationalize or slant a story (UFO and abduction stories do not need hype - they are amazing already)

5. A good investigative journalist reports in the best interest of the public and not for self interest or for financial gain.

6. A good investigative journalist reports the truth.

A good investigative journalist, although never perfect, at least strives for these objectives.

A.J. Gevaerd is a good investigator and is commended for assisting former followers of a UFO cult prosecute for consumer fraud and for giving them a voice.

Facts: 1. A recent interview shows Urandir Oliveira denies knowledge of his own "Project Vestibule (Portal)" - the selling of land with the promise of ET salvation. (Did he forget his sign over his own front door of one of his building and the project in which he comments numerous times to newspapers and TV?) 2. Linda Moulton Howe has yet to interview anyone who has left the "farm" UFO sect compound who feels they have been scammed. 3. Linda has yet to have a translator other than Branco who is Urandir's business partner and the person who paid her way to Brazil and hosted her for two weeks. 4. Linda has yet to interview Urandir's former lawyer Lütz Netto who represented the three individuals who brought about the charges that led to Urandir's arrest through a judge and police department. 5. Urandir have yet to state what produce he is "farming" "his goal is to be an "organic farmer". 6. Linda has yet to ask Urandir why he was quoted in Zero Hora Newspaper as saying he himself "was arrested because of a domestic fight with his ex-wife". Perhaps there wouldn't be questions if a simple interview had been done with the local police department.

Odd, Urandir is suddenly doing the "sympathy" act of "I got shot" with unfounded allegations toward Gevaerd. Not like he already doesn't have over a hundred people who are mad at him for having scammed them of thousands of dollars. Sound familiar? Ala Johnathan Reed?

Please note this device is commonly used among scammers to create sympathy and divert attention from the facts. Sex is also a common practice to garner followers.

Getting the Facts Straight

Gevaerd never published allegations involving Urandir's wife. The allegation comes from a quote by Urandir himself claimed to Zero Hora Newsaper of "Once I was arrested because of a domestic fight with my ex-wife with another woman, but there was nothing.".... - Zero Hora Newspaper, March 27, 2000 A document showing no legal judgments against Urandir Oliveira can be bought for $50 anywhere in Brazil and essentially does not lessen the validity of a police arrest or the fact that several land purchasers felt they were defrauded.

Urandir was arrested with a judicial order, issued by a regular judge in Rio Grande do Sul after observing documentation presented by a lawyer representing three former land owners of "Project Portal". Land ownership documentation forwarded by A.J. Gevaerd was received directly from a public notary in Brazil, - the proper authority showing the land Urandir Oliveira was selling was not his. It was a legal police arrest and is documented in the lawsuit proceedings.

Urandir's "bullet wound"? A.J. Gevaerd states Urandir hurt himself with a piece of wood from a wired fence in front of three people, one of them a former co-worker from Belo Horizonte, Fabiana Matias. About a month after that, while talking to a small group, Urandir said that he was shot and showed the scar, again in front of Fabiana, who immediately interrupted and said that it wasn't true. Then Urandir said it was and that he was shot. A.J. Gevaerd says this is the origin of this fabrication.

Urandir claims Gevaerd used his truck in an attack? Gevaerd states "the police record says "GREEN TRUCK", and now Urandir is stating a dark truck. Urandir has at least 4 different versions he has told to the police and people, this is why nobody believes in him. Urandir filed a lawsuit against Gevaerd and Gevaerd presented 8 witnesses to confirm that he was in Campo Grande, working with my 12 employees, the very day Urandir claims he was attacked. one of the witnesses Gevaerd presented to confirm his version was a colonel of the State Environmental Police.

Additionally, the story of an attack was apparently invented at the residence of a respected lady in Belo Horizonte - Urandir's attorney's sister-in-law. She interrupted the story and said she would not tolerate such a scam from them, and she did not. She called A.J. Gevaerd and offered to be his witness. In addition, all 3 witnesses Urandir had of the attack refused to testify and two eventually sent A.J. Gevaerd written letters saying this was all a scam.

Dear Colleagues:

I am 53 years old and 37 years ago I started researching the UFO phenomena. I first met Oliveira's Urandir Fernandes in the extinct TV program "BRASIL VERDADE", of the Bandeirantes Network of Television, presented by Wilton Franco. In spite of the program to be daily, Urandir used to appear there once a week. Thus, I started to record in video all the presentations of Urandir, which started in 1997 and they lasted several months.

Urandir said that was abducted when he was thirteen years of age old and that the extraterrestrials gave him paranormal powers. Urandir used to bend coins and forks, said that he could cure AIDS and cancer, that he could resuscitate dead people and could perform other phenomenons. All these things were designed only to impress the viewer. By analyzing Urandir videos that I recorded in SLOW MOTION, I noticed clearly that he used simple techniques of magic, manipulating several small objects out of sight from people. Even small pieces of gold material he hid under the fingernails he used, but he said that he could transform paper in gold. The gold material was already under his nails. I have those videos of the fraud.

Thus, together with other UFO researchers, I started to investigate the activities of Urandir Fernandes of Oliveira. In his farm in Corguinho, in the State of Mato Grosso do Sul, he used to do several tricks. He used to accord previously with his employees, and then use batteries of 12 Volts and headlamps of cars, at the distance 200 meters from his visitors, at night, in the middle of the darkness and of the forest. That, for those who doesn't know the place, could simulate UFOs. He also used laser pointers and other tools that generate light to fool people. All tricks easy to be repeated.

With some people's accusations, Urandir ended being arrested in Porto Alegre, Capital of the State of Rio Grande do Sul, for illegal sale of lands. After he constituted a lawyer, Urandir was freed. That news was disclosed by several newspaper and magazines and TV networks. Then, Urandir started using advertisement balloons (called BLIMPS), of three meters in diameter, with a lamp inside, to fool people in his farm. Usually, this balloons are used in advertisement as they arise with the use of Hydrogen or Hélio. People at distance and at night would believe the balloons to be UFOs. But they are only new tricks.

In a work conducted together with UFO researcher and engineer Ricardo Varela, of the National Institute of Space Researches, a government organism, I made a research using a small balloon for atmospheric studies. It was all documented properly by the program FANTÁSTICO, of the Globo Network of Television. Fantastico also previously filmed the balloons used by Urandir, that he said were UFOs. When that program went to the air, watched for more than 35 million people, it was very clear that the "UFO of Urandir" was really a simple balloon. He was exposed again.

For those "presentations" in his farm, Urandir used to collect approximately 50 dollars per person. He used to sell stories of UFOs and ETs only to cheat people. He is getting rich, very rich. He says he is paranormal and UFO contactee, but he is only deceiving the people with simple magic tricks and other manipulations. His stories are fake. Today, all the Brazilian UFO researchers know about the hoaxes and scams accomplished by Urandir and want to warn their American colleagues about it, as A. J. Gevaerd is trying so hard for months.

I knew Linda Moulton Howe through a video documentary, STRAGE HAVEST. I always thought of her to be a SERIOUS person and journalist. Now, I see that she is defending and promoting Urandir in the United States. That is very unfortunate and all she is doing is deceiving the people she addresses to by supporting Urandir´s hoax and his strategy of taking advantage of the good faith of the simple people. It is sad to me to find out that LMH it is another opportunistic person in the UFO community.

Any other work that LMH comes to publish in the future, certainty won´t have my respect because she is totally out of my list of serious UFO researchers who have a scientific concept of the phenomena. LMH is not a SERIOUS person and is only a great OPPORTUNISTIC.

An Open Letter To The American Ufology Community

From Rodrigo Branco

Dear Friends,

It is with extreme astonishment and concern that we from the brazilian ufology community see the repecurssion in USA of lies invented by the alleged paranormal and contactee Urandir Fernandes de Oliveira.

Urandir was already publicly demoralized in Brazil because he is a hoaxer that takes advantage of the good faith of people to make a fortune. The main means of communications in Brazil, either televised or printed midia, have already shown all the farse of Mr. U.F.O. claims through a series of constant denounciation by the truly brazilian ufologists.

Realizing that he doesn't have anymore space to spread his lies around here, Urandir decided to make an investment in your country and unfortunatelly he found someone to support him. It is important to make it clear our repudiation of Linda Moulton Howe who in this moment has no more good reputation around here. Linda is well aware that everything Urandir claims is a fraud and yet insists in publishing his lies.

We ask you in your valuable judgmente to help us stop the growth of this sect of fanatics before we have another 'Heavens Gate'. We also don't need another Jim Jones. Please, take the necessary action and do not let this lie to continue to be spread in USA.

Urandir is a dangerous person, he was arrested for fraud, and claims to be capable of curing diseases like AIDS, Cancer and Leukemia (charging a lot of money for this), besides to have been accused for assault, sexual harassment, charlatanism and much more.

Yours truly,

Rodrigo Branco
