- "Dear NotMilkman,
-
- I nursed our first boy until he was a year old and planned
to do the same with our second son but due to numerous breast infections
that I kept getting with him, the doctor advised me to quit nursing him
at 10 months and told me to get him on cow's milk. Not knowing any better
at the time and thinking doctors knew everything, I immediately got him
started on cow's milk.
-
- I didn't start him on a cup - still being a young baby
I was advised to just start him on a bottle. Surprisingly, he took to the
bottle pretty good and loved the milk. He went through several bottles
a day - we even started having it delivered! Within weeks after we started
him on the cow's milk he started getting more colds, ear infections, tonsillitis.
I had him into the doctor weekly. The glands in his neck were very swollen.
They had him on one antibiotic after another and this went on for a solid
year.
-
- The pedetritcian never once suggested it could be from
the milk - and having been raised on milk myself - it never entered my
mind. I didn't even know people could be allergic to nature's wonder food!
Because of his swollen glands in his neck not responding to any of the
antibiotics, they told us they wanted to test him for Hodgkin, etc.
-
- At this same time we started noticing that when we would
kneel by their beds with them at night to say prayers that after we had
said Amen he would stay there and not respond - thinking he had just fallen
asleep we would jokingly lean over and loudly say "AMEN" to him
and then he would lift his little head and say Amen. After a few days of
this we started realizing that he wasn't hearing us. Our older son who
at the time was in kindergarten was having a hearing test at school and
preschool siblings were invited to participate. We took him down and they
told us he had some definite hearing problems and recommended we take him
to a specialist.
-
- Meanwhile, my mom had invited me to a class on health
and herbs. I reluctantly went with her, telling her I didn't believe any
of that stuff. Well, the class was very interesting, and in the class she
mentioned how mucus-forming milk products were and that in most milk drinkers
you saw a lot more infections such as my son was experiencing. I went up
and talked to her after the class and asked her what I could do. She told
me to take him off of all dairy and grains for two weeks and see if I noticed
any difference. Well, it was the next day that I had the appointment with
the eyes, ears & nose specialist so I thought I would go and see what
he said. He told me that my son needed to have his tonsils and adenoids
out and have tubes put in his ears immediately. I asked him if putting
it off for a couple of weeks would cause anymore problems - if not I wanted
to try eliminating some things from his diet to see if that had any effect
on him.
-
- Well that Dr. proceeded to tell me that mothers like
me didn't deserve to have children. I left the office thinking - even if
this didn't work, I wouldn't bring him back to this particular doctor after
a comment like that. Well, to make a long story short - the whole family
went off of milk and grains for that period of time and within two weeks
my son's swollen glands had completely gone back to normal. His ear infection
cleared up - his hearing was back to normal. I was absolutely amazed. The
doctors had been giving him drugs for a solid year and he just seemed to
get sicker. In two weeks time after taking him off of dairy and grains,
he was completely cured of all his problems. Needless to say, I started
to attend these lectures on a regular basis and learned how to feed my
family better to help them prevent getting all the colds, flus, etc. that
kids seem to get so often.
-
- I can honestly say that with my next three and for the
rest of their growing up years, the only reason I had to take them to the
Dr. was for broken bones and deep cuts, etc. I am not saying they didn't
get an occasional cold or sick tummy but when they did it was over within
a day or two and they didn't develop into some of these other infections.
-
- Going off of dairy really worked for us! To this day
if my son eats an occasional ice cream or anything with dairy in it his
throat gets all scratchy and kind of closes in on him - I have told him
he is one of the lucky ones that has immediate effects from dairy - others
it just builds up inside until they get something serious!
-
- My son since has grown up and is a Dr. doing his surgical
residency. He has tried pretty much to stick with the things that he learned
from home but he married someone who thinks if their kids didn't get dairy
they would have problems. Well, their little boy, now two, started having
the same problems after she quit nursing him, and my son finally couldn't
take it any longer and told her to take him off milk and finally she decided
to try it since the infections were happening so frequently. Guess what
- no more infections. He called me a few weeks ago to tell me a neighbor
brought a sick child over to their house for him to look at and told him
they just couldn't seem to keep him well and he said, 'Mom, I feel like
a witch doctor, but I told them not to take him to their pediatrician who
would just recommend drugs and surgery.' He said, 'I told them to take
him off of dairy." He said, "They weren't expecting to hear that
from a doctor!'

- Thanks again for your articles. I love reading them.
Have a great day and keep up the good work."

- I get a few dozen similar letters each day. Allergies,
back pain, reflux, are just a few of the simple things cured by a notmilk
regimen.
