- Hi, Jeff,
-
- I was surprised and baffled when GW put a call for $15
billion bills to "fight" AIDS in Africa into his state of the
union address. Then I thought about why he would do this. Was it guilt
over Jeb's complicity in dumping 90,000 black voters off the Florida registered
voter lists just because they had names that sounded the same as those
of a list of black felons from the other 49 states? Was it a feeling of
failure of his Pappy's personally prepared planned parenthood condom distribution
projects in America and Africa? Did God tell him to help the poor suffering
Africans, the way he told him to smite the Afghanis and the Iraqis? Or
is there a sinister undercurrent to this Trojan Horse?
-
- We all know that the worlds drug companies have for long
kept the price of AIDS drugs high throughout the world to maximize profits.
Only in the past year have they agreed to provide low cost drugs to South
Africa, with the obvious aim of keeping the gold and diamond mines running,
as the skilled and semi-skilled miners who work there have high rates of
AIDS. And we know how the drug cartel has slushed millions into the Bushy
war chest. So what did we hear the first resident say this past week?
He said that the teaching of "Abstinence" would be primary to
the AIDS fight in Africa. Just gotta keep those loose living natives johnsons
in their shorts. Problem solved folks! Hmmm.
-
- 15 billion bucks, would have been a good start to stem
the tide of AIDS in Africa back in 1985. Today, it would take ten times
that amount, just to build the needed medical infrastructure, and to train
the medical personnel. 15 billion spread over 5 years, even if this bigot-minded
republican congress would approve that much, is just not enough to provide
the medical and educational effort needed to stem the tide of AIDS in Africa,
or even in India, or for that matter in Tailand, or for all we know in
China. And what about the good ol U S of A?
-
- But to use an old Texas idiom, "I'll tell you what!"
15 billion over 5 years is enough to keep the spread of AIDS going at
a fast clip in Africa. By prolonging the lives of those infected through
the liberal dispensation of drugs that do not cure, but only prolong the
lives of those infected, without adequate educational outreach to teach
safe sex techniques, these 15 billion bucks will only increase the likelihood
of an accelerated spread of this 21st century plague. It will also greatly
increase the likelihood of developing a number of new strains of the virus,
which will be transported overseas to infect and re-infect millions more
in countries all over the world.
-
- Doesn't this sound more like the kind of policy we would
expect from a son of the Eugenics generation? Doesn't this sound more
like the kind of kickback to the drug cartel we would expect from a political
machine that has already brought you the carpet bombing of Afghanistan
with Uranium bombs, and two massive air wars against Iraqi civilians?
-
- Let's think twice before we take anything this hoser
does at face value, my friends, when this administration is willing to
spend 1billion bucks of our taxes every week just so Halliburton can steal
millions of barrels a day of Iraqi oil. This underfunded, ill-conceived,
untimely and bufoonish attempt to grab the name of good Samaritan would
be comical if it were not so tragic for the 25 million poor Africans already
infected, and the growing numbers of orphans they are leaving behind every
day due to world indifference to the post colonial continent.
-
- If Bush cares so much about Africa, and Powel and Rice
are anything but tap dancing toms, then where is the indignation over the
ongoing African Slave Trade? In Ghana, in Ivory Coast, in Liberia and
coming from Congo, Nigeria, and Mali, child slaves are being used to harvest
cocoa to feed the West's appetite for chocolate. Not a word out of Bush.
Not a word of hope from Hershey. And African slaves are being imported
to Saudi Arabia and Kuwait too, where slavery is still legal! Where is
the outrage over this? Where is the remedy for the blood diamonds that
are being shipped through Israel on a daily basis to help fund Sharon's
war machine? Where is the real commitment to justice and peace and healing?
-
- I would suggest, it is not to be found in the Bush camp,
and not to be found in this drug industry and "christian" fundamentalist
agenda of encouraging genocide by means of compassionate appearances.
This 15 billion boondoggle is a poison apple. It is a publicity stunt
with a negative undercurrent that is intended to win prestige in America
from American Blacks, while at the same time contributing to the decimation
of Africa's poor. I could go on, but I guess this states the case on this
point about as clearly as I am able to state it.
-
- Keep up the good work Jeff, and let free speech thrive.
Nothing can stop an idea who's time has come.
