Two US GIs Die In Convoy
Blast North Of Baghdad

10-29-3

(AFP) -- Two US soldiers were killed when an explosive device blew up as they were driving in a convoy north of Baghdad, a military spokeswoman said.

"Two soldiers were killed yesterday (Tuesday) 40 kilometers (25 miles) northeast of Balad," the spokeswoman said.

She said the soldiers of the 4th Infantry Division were killed when an explosive device detonated as their convoy passed by.

Balad is located 75 kilometers (45 miles) north of Baghdad, within an area known as the Sunni Triangle where US troops come under daily attack.

The deaths bring to 116 the number of US soldiers killed in combat since major hostilities officially ended on May 1.
