War On Terrorism Means
Perpetual Attack On Liberties

It should be painfully obvious to everyone that the United States has no exit strategy for Afghanistan or Iraq, and that a cessation of war is not even contemplated by our nation's leaders. In fact, President Bush recently declared that America is now in a perpetual state of war.

Bush made it clear that the U.S. is now in permanent war status when he recently said, "Terrorism is an inescapable reality of life. It is a permanent condition to which America and the entire world must adjust. The need for homeland security, therefore, is not tied to any specific terrorist threat." However, such "permanent condition" of war bodes ill for constitutional government and individual liberty.

During war, normal freedoms are readily suspended, constitutional checks and balances are forfeited, and citizens can quickly become subjects. Therefore, the fact that our governmental leaders have now adopted a "permanent condition" of war attitude should be cause of great concern to all of us.

Since the dawn of human history, it has been the ambition of rich and powerful men to subjugate and enslave the masses. Advanced technology has not changed men's hearts, only the speed and ease in which their evil machinations can be realized.

By creating a gargantuan Department of Homeland Security, by passing a Draconian Patriot Act, and by many other measures, the Bush administration and its allies in Congress have created the foundation for a merciless behemoth that has the potential to enslave every American citizen!

The cost of perpetual war goes far beyond the financial burden placed upon the backs of the American people or the personal loss of brave sons and daughters by loved ones. The cost of perpetual war will ultimately include the loss of our nation's liberty and independence. This is already happening.

The ability of the American people to defend themselves is increasingly being dismantled. For example, had Americans not been stripped of their freedom to carry their own firearms on board commercial airliners back in 1972, the events of September 11, 2001, would never have happened.

However, instead of giving more freedom to the American people to defend themselves, following the 2001 terrorist attacks, the federal government has worked feverishly to steal our liberties in even greater degrees. The mindset in Washington, D.C., is that the American people must assume the role of defenseless sheep and accept an omnipotent federal government as their only source of protection.

Therefore, when the President of the United States declares the country to be in a "permanent condition" of war, we need to understand that this includes a never-ending attack upon the freedoms and liberties of the American people by our own government.
