GAZA (Xinhuanet) -- A total of four Israeli soldiers were injured by a roadside bomb near the Southern Gaza Strip town of Rafah, an Israeli spokesman said Sunday.

An explosive device went off early on Sunday when an armed personnel carrier was passing by the road near the border with Egypt, he said.

All of the injured were immediately transferred for treatment toa hospital in Beer Sheba, near the Gaza Strip, he added.

Al-Quds Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Jihad, claimed responsibility for the attack later in a leaflet.

The brigade said its militants had planted a 50-Kilogram explosive device on the road frequented by Israeli army patrols andmachineries.

"This attack comes in response to the Zionist deportation policythat targeted Palestinian militants and leaders, as well as the Zionist massacres carried out against Palestinians," the leaflet said.
