I changed to a vegan diet simply because I was afraid of prions. Here is what has already happened:
 
* My weight decreased by nearly twenty pounds (I was overweight, now I'm normal weight)
 
* My blood pressure was beginning to be high, with the diastolic between 90 and 100 - now it stays at about 127/70.
 
* My blood lipids were high, now they are better than average.
 
* Liver enzymes were high, this has dropped as well.
 
* Something else I've noticed; the mere thought of eating meat actually grosses me out. Even my skin is looking better, very obviously.
 
I spoke to a woman recently who asked me "how I could not eat meat?" My reply was this; "after you've learned that there is possibly a virtually indestructible pathenogenic agent in any meat, and you're playing Russian roulette by eating it, not to mention drastically improving your health (we were in a "health food" store) how can you KEEP eating meat?" She gave me a *blank* look, as if she didn't understand a word I said. I'm not going to press the issue with people, but if they want to comment on it, I will, as well.
 
I wonder how many potential years I've added to my life, not to mention improving both on my inner health and my appearance? My daughter's friends freak when I tell them about prions, so I may be making a *dent*. I invite them all to come over and eat dinner with us whenever they want.
 
Hopefully, they'll listen.
