82nd Airborne Division soldier was killed and another was injured at approximately
6:25 p.m. Dec. 30 at the Tanif border crossing when a third soldier was
cleaning a weapon and it fired a chambered round.

- The wounded soldier was taken to a military medical facility
for treatment.

- The names of the soldiers are being withheld pending
notification of next of kin.

- The incident is under investigation.
