Now, why is all this (excuse the pun) breast-beating going on around the baring of one of Miss Jacksons mammary glands? Why has a viewer (whom I believe has now withdrawn her complaint) become so incensed by this act? Would her time not have been far better spent by protesting against the following which has been promoted by the acts of "artists" on MTV since its inception as being normal and within the bounds of decency:

* drug taking and/or drug pushing (just about every modern "pop" genre one can think of)

* sexually loose morals (see above)

* homosexuality (see above)

* homophobia (paradoxically see above)

* mysogony (see above)

* murder (usually, but not always, "gangsta" related. (Thankfully this encouragement from "artists" is still quite rare, yet growing.)

* murder of law enforcement officers (Cop Killer, I believe was the title of that particularly edifying song which kick started this phenomena)

* satanism (see Marilyn Manson. Now MTV have very cleverly used Mr Manson as, no matter how distasteful you may find his views he is a very intelligent man)

Based upon the above sorrowful track record of the filth and slime with which MTV fills (or should I say saturates) its airtime can it really be long in coming when MTV will start to release "music" which promotes paedophilia as a "legitimate" pursuit? Sadly, I think not.

I am, or rather was, a fan of so called pop music up until the late eighties and early nineties. Whatever happened to the politcial element in pop music from the likes of U2 and others. Whatever happend to pop music which simply put forward interesting ideas (such as Tears For Fears, OMD, New Order etc) or just pure entertainment. Sure, when it came to the eighties pop music you may have hated all of it. But, to the best of my knowledge, none of it up to that point ever encouraged the deviant acts as noted above except for drug use. And even then it was treated as either individual experiment or was shown in an urban context as being detrimental to society at large. White Lines, anyone?

Compared to the above sad litany the exposure of Miss Jacksons breast on TVseems not only trite but also completely unimportant and, dare I say it, in todays climate, quite innocent.

Yet today every act which is deviant, violent or harmful to the human organism is PURPOSEFULLY, WILFULLY AND ENTHUSIASTICALLY portrayed, and promoted by mainstream media, as being NORMAL. I could ask why. But I, and many of your readers, Jeff, already know the answer to this one. It can be summed up in three little letters- NWO. Nuff said.

Best Regards

Max
