- BAGHDAD (Sapa-dpa) -- An
American helicopter downed near the city of Haditha west of Baghdad, killing
two soldiers, was hit by a rocket-propelled grenade, witnesses said on
Wednesday.

- They said the helicopter was hovering over a United States
convoy near Haditha when it was hit by an RPG7 grenade. They said the crew
of a second helicopter took the two bodies.

- A US military spokesperson in Baghdad confirmed the death
of the two soldiers but said it was still unclear what caused the crash.
The spokesperson said the Kiowa helicopter fell into a river.

- Meanwhile, unknown assailants attacked a centre used
by US troops in al-Qaem on the Iraq-Syrian border, witnesses said. They
said US soldiers returned fire and arrested five Iraqis. There was no report
of casualties.
