- Test results have confirmed the presence of the bird
flu virus in a leopard which died late last month in a Thai zoo, an official
at the national resources and environment ministry said.
-
- "The third lab result showed a diluted positive,
and we confirmed the leopard was infected with bird flu," the ministry
official said.
-
- A first test on the clouded leopard, which died at Khao
Kheow open zoo east of Bangkok on January 27, showed a decisive positive
for bird flu while the second test was negative, he said.
-
- The official could not say whether the third test showed
the presence of the H5N1 virus, the highly pathogenic strain which has
killed at least 20 people in Thailand and Vietnam.
