Film Producer Takes
Picture Of Ghost
The Cape Times - South Africa

A ghost from the past recently paid a visit to the film set of Olive Schreiner's masterpiece, Story of an Africa Farm.

The movie was being filmed on location near Matjiesfontein, starring Richard E Grant.

Producer Bonnie Rodini started scouting for locations in the area eight years ago on the farm Zoute Kloof.

At the time, she said yesterday, she saw the female ghost for the first time and took a picture of her.

"I remember I saw this woman with a flowing white dress and I took a picture of it. I still have the picture."

This year, when filming started, Rodini was reluctant to tell cast members about it, but some said they immediately felt a presence on the set.

Several security guards say they saw the same ghost and video operator Marco Rinaldi moved out of his room to the Lord Milner Hotel after "feeling" that somebody was watching him.

The ghost is said to be that of Louisa Margaret Green, the wife of a civil commissioner, according to local historian Rose Willis.

Green fell ill with dystentry and died at Zoute Kloof in the 1860s.
