- At least 11 Iraqi police officers and trainees have been
shot dead in two separate attacks in the latest protest against the US-led
occupation.

- Nine police are reported to have been killed and two
others injured when gunmen opened fire on a minibus carrying them to work
near Hilla, south of Baghdad.

- Meanwhile, in Kirkuk, two police officers were shot dead
and two others injured in a drive-by shooting. A third incident was reported
in Mosul where a mortar attack was carried out on an Iraqi military base,
killing two civilians.

- There has been an increase in the number of strikes which
target Iraqis working with the US-led administration in the past few weeks

- At the same time, attacks on American military forces
appear to have remained constant or showed a decline.
