- Senators George, Winters And Rep. Nelson Launch 'Operation
Col. Reusser Restoration Fund' With Barbecue Sunday, March 28, 2pm In Newberg,
OR
-
- Oregon is/was home to America's most decorated Marine
Aviator alive today. Lt. Col. Ken Ruesser (pronounced Rizer) in defending
freedom was shot down in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. Lt. Col. Ken
Ruesser and wife Trudy were evicted at gunpoint from their home in Beaverton
on Wednesday by Washington County law officers who knocked down a door
to enter the home.
-
- This travesty occurred following situations in which
a financial advisor, now in jail, confiscated funds from the Ruesser account
at Washington Mutual. Alleging that the bank should have taken its fiduciary
responsibility more seriously in noting the withdrawals from the fund,
the Ruessers were awarded a million-dollar settlement only to have the
award overturned by another Washington County court.
-
- Faced with the loss of all of their funds, the couple
relocated to a friend's home on Wednesday. Past attempts have been made
to rescue this beloved veteran, now 84, and his wife. Both are disabled.
-
- Sen. Gary and Commissioner Kathy George have offered
the Ruessers the use of a mobile home on their Newberg property and plans
are to move the couple to Newberg on Sunday, a move the group hopes is
temporary. In the meantime, Sen. Jackie Winters of Salem and Rep. Donna
Nelson are pursuing sources with the help of Yamhill County leaders and
veterans to buy back the family home and restore the Ruessers with sustenance
funding.
-
- All who can support this Operation Ruesser Restoration
are invited to the George farm at 15195 NE Ribbon Ridge Road, New berg,
for a potluck barbeque beginning at 2 p.m. Funds may also be deposited
at Columbia Bank in McMinnville made out to Fund for Hope which is established
to help people facing catastrophic losses. Individuals who wish to help
with the event can call Sen. George at 503-538-4122 or Rep. Donna Nelson
at 503-472-7446.
-
- "Now is the time to renew respect of our veterans!
We must be there for them! They've never deserted us!!! Our goal by
Monday is $75,000. Timing is critical!" says Rep. Nelson, the state
representative of the Veterans Memorial Task Force.
