- A bomb has killed two US soldiers and wounded a third
on a road 70 kilometres (45 miles) west of Baghdad.

- The combat soldiers' vehicle, which was serving as an
escort in a convoy, struck a homemade bomb in Habaniya, US Central Command
reports.

- The deaths bring to 267 the number of US troops reported
by the Pentagon as killed in action in Iraq since the end of major combat
on 1 May.

- Habaniya is close to the flashpoint towns of Ramadi and
Falluja.

- Earlier, the US-led coalition reported that two Iraqi
women employed at a coalition laundry in the southern city of Basra had
been killed by gunmen who raked their taxi with bullets.

- Also on Wednesday evening, a US soldier was mortally
wounded in a roadside bomb attack near the central town of Baquba.
