Plea For AZ Governor
To Veto Drinking Extension

From Walter J. Burien
4-7-4

Governor Janet Napolitano
Arizona State Gorernor

Dear Governor Napolitano:

Please Veto the one hour 2 AM extension of alcohol consumption. Do not approve this.

I grew up in NJ, and back in 1972 the age was 21 to drink, but in NY it was 18. So, with many from NJ going to NY to drink the bureaucrats in NJ said "Hey, NY is getting more money and money from us, so let's lower the age to 18 and we will get millions of extra revenue a day."

So they lowered the age to 18, and yes they got millions AND from the start and in a few years the teen and adult death rate jumped by 300%. Teen delinquency tripled also. Teen pregnancy went up by over 400%

Millions were made and generated to spend by the bureaucrats, the courts, the attorneys, and law enforcement, but further social decay and tragedy was inflicted on all of the people.

The similar results in traffic fatalities occurred when the time was increased in NJ from 1 AM to 2 AM, and then 2 AM to 3 AM in some counties. The money increased for the bureaucrats, the police made a killing on increased DUIs, the attorneys made a killing on the same, and the people suffered and more lives were lost. Lives lost both from the irresponsible drunk, but also many innocent victims who happened to be on the road, at one specific point, at the wrong second.

One bureaucrat from NJ back then was even quoted as saying "It's only drunks out on the road at that time so they will only be killing each other." This was not the case, and it showed the blatant disregard for lives, over more money in the pocket.

You must in good conscience, if your concern is for the general public and not the bureaucratic money interests, Veto the this increase from 1 AM to 2 AM.

There is no question as to the to the increase in fatalities and social decay that takes place when the Drunk extension was approved in other venues, and the conclusive record spans 30 years.

It boils down to money gained in exchange for lives and social decay. Your position is not to discount those lives for a profit. Your job is to protect those lives.

Please Veto the Drunk drinking time extension.

I have forwarded on this communication to my national email list. Those that read, and forward themselves to others they know in Arizona will see where your intent rests based on your actions from the position of "Public Trust" that you hold.

Sincerely,

Walter J. Burien, Jr. P. O. Box 2112 Saint Johns, Arizona 85936
