Bomb Hits US Convoy
In Fallujah

4-25-4

FALLUJA, Iraq (Reuters) - A roadside bomb struck a U.S. military convoy on the outskirts of the besieged town of Falluja on Sunday, destroying one military vehicle and inflicting casualties, Iraqi witnesses said.

They said black smoke rose from the burning vehicle on a road just outside the bastion of Sunni Muslim insurgents, 50 km (30 miles) west of Baghdad.

There was no immediate word from the U.S. military in Baghdad.

A similar attack in the capital earlier in the day killed one soldier.

The U.S. Marines launched an attack on Falluja, a town of 300,000, three weeks ago after four American security guards were killed and their bodies mutilated in the city.

A precarious ceasefire ended a week of heavy fighting but the Marines continue to besiege the city and demand the handing over of heavy weapons.
