Five Iraqi Police Killed
In Mosul Attack

4-28-4

MOSUL, Iraq (Reuters) -- Armed men attacked the residence of the police chief of the northern Iraq province of Mosul on Wednesday and killed five of his men, hospital sources and witnesses said.

The police chief was unharmed, but two policemen were wounded and the three or four attackers appeared to have escaped, the witnesses said.

Police, who sealed off the area, declined comment.

West of Baghdad, between the besieged city of Falluja and the town of Ramada in the so-called Sunni Triangle where there has been considerable resistance against the U.S.-led occupation, a car bomb exploded minutes after a U.S. military convoy passed.

They said three Iraqis were killed in the explosion 70 km (40 miles) west of Baghdad.
