- MOSUL, Iraq (Reuters) --
Armed men attacked the residence of the police chief of the northern Iraq
province of Mosul on Wednesday and killed five of his men, hospital sources
and witnesses said.

- The police chief was unharmed, but two policemen were
wounded and the three or four attackers appeared to have escaped, the witnesses
said.

- Police, who sealed off the area, declined comment.

- West of Baghdad, between the besieged city of Falluja
and the town of Ramada in the so-called Sunni Triangle where there has
been considerable resistance against the U.S.-led occupation, a car bomb
exploded minutes after a U.S. military convoy passed.

- They said three Iraqis were killed in the explosion 70
km (40 miles) west of Baghdad.
