- NEW YORK -- The shocking
death of an Iraqi prisoner in American hands was described yesterday as
President Bush went on Arab TV to condemn abuse of war captives.

- As Mr Bush squirmed, it emerged that the detainee at
the infamous Abu Ghraib jail had apparently been beaten to death - then
wrapped in ice and Cellophane.

- US Staff Sgt Chip Fredrerick said troops "stressed
out" an inmate so badly, he died. The man was "iced" for
24 hours before medics took him away on a stretcher with a fake drip in
his arm.

- At least 14 prisoner deaths In Iraq and Afghanistan are
now blamed on the US or are under investigation.

- Mr Bush called the abuse of captives "abhorrent"
and the White House later used the word "sorry" half a dozen
times.

- In London, Mirror editor Piers Morgan was asked to appear
before MPs, over pictures of torture by British troops.
