- Details surrounding the downing of two American helicopters
in Iraq early this week are now in and tell a totally different story than
published by mainstream press.
-
- The "official" US version of the story went
like this. Earlier on Monday, the US military claimed that Iraqi Resistance
fighters had attacked a US military medevac helicopter with automatic weapons
and launched rocket-propelled grenades on Monday. The pilot and co-pilot
of the aircraft were wounded in the Resistance attack, according to the
US report.
-
- The American statement said that the helicopter was crossing
the sky above an area located north west of Fallujah and was carrying a
very badly wounded US soldier. The US military spokesman said that after
the attack, the helicopter was able, with extreme difficulty, to move to
a different location where all the wounded personnel were transferred to
another helicopter that took them to hospital.
-
- Here is the real account of the event. This report comes
from the local correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam who is on the ground
with Iraqi resistance fighters and has been translated from the original
Arabic.
-
- Mafkarat al-Islam's correspondent reported on Monday
that the Iraqi Resistance had shot down an American Apache helicopter in
the al-Azraqiyah area after sunset on Monday evening. The US helicopter
crashed after Resistance fighters struck it with a surface-to-air missile
and came as US invader troops battled Resistance fighters on the ground.
All those aboard the helicopter were killed, according to the correspondent.
-
- On Tuesday the correspondent filed a further story providing
more details on the course of the fighting. He wrote that the Resistance
managed to shoot down two US Chinook helicopters in the course of the al-Azraqiyah
fighting. One of them was struck and crashed instantly, killing all aboard.
The other Chinook, however, continued its flight after being hit, but then
crashed four kilometers from the scene of the Resistance attack.
-
- In the same attack, the Iraqi Resistance destroyed one
US Humvee, killing all four US troops aboard. An American armored vehicle
was also totally destroyed in the same engagement, but the number of casualties
in than incident remains unclear.
-
- The morale of the story is simply this. We caution Muslims
who garner their news from mainstream sources. While some aspects of their
reports may be true, the propaganda is often very subtle. For instance,
the Muslims in Iraq who are waging a legitimate resistance against US occupation
are transformed by the media into "terrorists" through the clever
manipulation of facts, aimed at drawing sympathy for US forces and disqualifying
legitimate armed resistance against its subjugators.
-
- This fact could not be more explicit than in the al-Zarqawi
myth. During the past months, we have published dozens of direct reports
from resistance fighters on the ground in Iraq and not once have we received
a report containing any reference whatsoever to al-Zarqawi. Further, Fallujah
resistance fighters have even taken to the airwaves to say they do not
know of this individual.
- The Al-Zarqawi myth continues to be propagated by the
US military and fueled by a dutiful mainstream media while every action
of blatant aggression against Iraqis who have a legitimate right to defend
their land and property from American pillage is blamed on this non existent
"terrorist" al-Zarqawi. As was reported at the time, al-Zarqawi
was killed in a bombing raid in 2002.
-
- The American propaganda machine is wide spread and effective.
Its sole purpose is to peddle hate against Muslims to justify the theft
of our lands and resources. Be cautious of what you read and don't be fooled
by this slight of hand.
