- Saw the Michael Moore film.
-
- It's excellent. Two thumbs, way up.
-
- Yeah, Israel got a free pass so did the question of where
the US Air Force was on 9-11, of why the FBI stopped and never resumed
its 9-11 investigation and what happened to WTC 7 (the *other* building
that collapsed on 9-11 taking years of evidence files from the CIA, FBI,
SEC, and IRS with it - look it up)
-
- But hey, Moore had only two hours or so to tell his story
and the slices of reality he did portray were significant and worthwhile.
-
- One wag recently described Fahrenheit 911 as timely,
but not timeless.
-
- I disagree.
-
- Anyone who wants to *see* US history from 2000-2004 will
be dependent on this film. In fact, *anyone* who has been dependent on
television for the 'news' the last few years will find this movie eye opening
-
- Some of the scenes you'll see in Fahrenheit 911 that
were never shown on US TV:
-
- 1. Tens of thousands of protestors in Washington DC nearly
shutting down Bush's inauguration, pelting his limousine with eggs, and
forcing him to abandon the traditional presidential walk to the podium.
-
- (Bush was *not* welcomed into the White House by a nation
of pliant zombies.)
-
- 2. Numerous members of the House of Representatives appealing
before a joint session of Congress that details of the 2000 vote be investigated
and that Bush's election not be certified. The failure of just one member
of the Senate to co-sign their complaint was enough to have their petition
rejected on a technicality.
-
- 3. Iraqi children butchered as the result of US military
operations
-
- 4. US servicemen dead, gravely wounded, and in military
hospitals recovering from amputations and other serious injuries
-
- 5. US servicemen speaking out against the war
-
- 6. Bush & Co. arm and arm with Saudi despots and
an ex-FBI agent asking why the bin Laden family was allowed to fly out
of the US without being questioned when all other planes in the US were
grounded
-
- And probably the rarest sight of all, at least as far
as the racist US news media is concerned...
-
- 7. Articulate, well spoken young black men from a decaying
American city (Flint, MI in this case) - not gangsters, rappers, pimps,
or sports figures - concerned about their future and the future of their
communities and expressing a desire to participate in higher education
without having to don a military uniform in order to get it.
-
- I guess life always presents opportunities...
-
- Since the so called US 'news' media won't report the
basic facts of American life, it creates a huge opportunity for people
who can package basic information, put it on a screen and sell tickets.
-
- That's what Moore did. He saw his chance and took it.
Good for him. It's a good movie - and yes, he will make a ton of money
from it.
-
- Moore made an important point at the end of the film.
I'm not sure how many people caught it... that the purpose of this war
and others has little to do with oil or resources or territory and everything
to do with keeping the 'Homeland' (i.e. the population) under control.
-
- Bankrupting the nation, gutting social programs, terrorizing
Americans into surrendering primary civil liberties... Mission accomplished
for the traitorous Bush administration.
