- The explosion of an unidentified flying object (UFO)
in northern Brazil on Sunday morning and made known today shall be investigated
by scientific and police authorities, according to local radio.

- In Brasilia, accoring to the El Dorado radio station,
National Secretary of Defense Jorge Pimentel advised local residents to
avoid contact with the object's remains.

- The metallic parts of the object were scattered over
the municipalities of Barras, Batalha and Piacurcuca in the northern state
of Piaui, where residents heard a loud report and saw a sudden light in
the sky,accoring to broadcast reports.

- The first hypothesis on the explosion is that it is a
satellite, according to police spokesman Raimundo Nonato from Batalha,
who collected a piece 4 kilograms in weight and a meter long, whose impact
caused a three meter hole.

- From Teresina, the state capital, it was also possible
to see the illumination caused by the blast, some 500 meters from the Alcantara
Space Facility.

- Nonato indicated that no injuries were reported in any
of the three cities, while the Teresina airport noted that an airliner
crew reported the strange situation after the explosion occurred.
