- The continued promotion of the STS-112 images by George
Filer and Jeff Challender is facilitated by their misrepresentation of
contrary arguments and evidence, and their omission of detailed discussions
of the imagery by experts on public-access 'newsgroups' including sci.space.shuttle,
alt.alien.visitors, sci.skeptic, and alt.astronomy.
-
- A year and a half ago, unbiased people curious about
the apparently anomalous image, but with detailed knowledge of the space
shuttle and space station, discussed possibilities for prosaic explanations
and concluded the sequence showed a shadow moving across one of the shuttle's
radiator panels.
-
- A series of prosaic explanations were proposed, tested,
and rejected, while technical analysis of the camera's viewing position,
and use of shuttle technical documentation and computer models, led the
discussion toward their ultimate conclusion -- a conclusion not reflected
on the websites carrying Filer's and Challender's material.
