-
- A recent rash of cases of a rare brain disease have prompted
Cinnaminson, New Jersey, accountant Janet Skarbek to allege a possible
link between the disease and the now-closed Garden State Park.
-
- Skarbek believes there is a link between nine local cases
of Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease and eating beef at the Cherry Hill track.
She first raised concerns last summer when two people who worked with her
mother at the track contracted the disease and later died, the Courier
Post reports.
-
- State and federal officials looked into six of the cases
Skarbek presented last summer and dismissed her allegations with regards
to the track.
-
- A total of nine people alleged to be part of a cluster
centered on Garden State Park have died from the disease, but details on
other eating establishments the victims might have also frequented were
not included in Skarbek's claims.
