Suicide Car Bomber Hits
US Convoy In Mosul

10-11-4

MOSUL, Iraq (Reuters) - A suicide car bomber has attacked a U.S. military convoy in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul, causing several casualties, witnesses say.

They said they saw body parts scattered in the street after the blast on Monday, which occurred in southern Mosul on the main highway leading into the city from the south.

No casualty figures were immediately available, but the witnesses said civilians and soldiers had been hit.

The bomb gouged a huge crater two metres (six feet) deep in the road. U.S. soldiers opened fire after the attack, the witnesses said.

Insurgents have frequently mounted attacks on U.S. forces in Mosul, 390 km (240 miles) north of Baghdad.
