- TOKYO (Reuters) - A Japanese
New Year reveller was seriously burnt when his glass of vodka burst into
flames, police said.

- Kengo Kanemori, 24, was celebrating the holidays with
friends at a restaurant in Nagoya, some 366 km (220 miles) west of Tokyo,
when his drink caught fire.

- "The drink he ordered was around 96 proof liquor
(about 43 percent alcohol)," a police spokesman said. "It is
unclear why it caught on fire."

- Kanemori suffered second and third-degree burns over
15 percent of his body and was being treated in hospital. His injuries
were not life-threatening, the spokesman added.

- Police were investigating the cause of the fire.
