- CIA leak opens U.S. intelligence up to disinformation.
Intelligence insiders are reporting that the exposure of the CIA's Counter-Proliferation
Division non-official cover (NOC) operations opened U.S. intelligence up
to disinformation from foreign security services that discovered U.S. agents
of influence and contacts and used them to feed false information to the
CIA. The leak has blindsided U.S. intelligence in a number of critical
areas of the world, including Central Asia, the Middle East, Southeast
Asia, Eastern Europe, and Africa. Meanwhile, morale has never been so poor
at CIA headquarters in Langley and stations around the world. Experienced
case officers, area experts, and other seasoned agents are being purged
and replaced by politicized personnel with primary loyalties to the Bush
administration and the neo-con agenda.
