- Prime Minister John Howard says ACT Chief Minister Jon
Stanhope will receive all versions of the anti-terrorism legislation even
though he has been "discourteous".
-
- Mr Stanhope caused a ruckus last week when he took a
confidential copy of the anti-terrorism legislation and put it on his public
website.
-
- The move angered Mr Howard, who says it was discourteous
to other leaders.
-
- But Mr Howard insists that Mr Stanhope will not miss
out on future documents.
-
- Mr Howard gave the assurance after Mr Stanhope said he
had received an email telling him he would not be sent the next draft of
the law.
-
- "He'll be getting all drafts, he won't have missed
anything, I can assure the people of the ACT that," he said.
-
- "The ACT will be receiving all future drafts of
this legislation.
-
- "I want the agreement of all governments and there
is no purpose served, I have decided, in the people of the ACT being treated
with the discourtesy that Mr Stanhope displayed towards his fellow leaders."
-
- The anti-terrorism legislation is due to be introduced
to Federal Parliament at the end of the month.
