- The video about Army Ranger Jessie Macbeth
produced by Pepperspray Productions has been removed from the web site.
When accessing the site at www.peacefilms.org, a picture of a big blue
globe of the earth appears.
-
- When doing a Google search under video.google.com
and then putting in peacefilms.org, an announcement appears, saying "this
video is currently not available. Please try again later."
-
- The 21 minute and 33 second video surfaced
yesterday, recounting the horrific tale of how Macbeth was ordered to slaughter
innocents in Iraq, including prayer worshippers in a mosque, women and
children.
-
- The sad story, discussing a mass genocide
campaign in Iraq, was subsequently picked up by numerous internet sites,
including the Arctic Beacon.
-
- Since the video had been pulled Tuesday
for unknown reasons amidst numerous rumors both pro and con to the veracity
of Macbeth's claims, some internet pulled the story while others let it
remain posted until further information surfaces.
-
- In the interim, Iraqi Veterans Against
the War (IVAW) issued a statement since Macbeth directed viewers to the
IVAW web site, saying the case is under investigation, not suggesting whether
the anti-war group believed Macbeth or not.
-
- Further, an IVAW spokesman Tuesday said
Pepperspray Productions pulled the video until further questions could
be answered. But the anti-war spokesman would not provide details whether
Macbeth's veracity was at issue, whether the producers bowed to military
pressure or whether it was black ops campaign to spread disinformation,
a dirty campaign catching journalists and readers in a web of deceit knowing
no bounds or decency in modern day fascist America.
-
- The statement by the IVAW said:
-
- "Iraq Veterans Against the War recently
learned of a video interview with Jesse MacBeth that directs viewers to
IVAW's website and phone number. IVAW was not made aware of the
creation of this video program and our input on it was never sought by
its producers. Jesse MacBeth is not a spokesperson for IVAW and any
claims made by MacBeth about his service have not been verified.
We are currently investigating these claims and will have a full statement
pending its resolution."
-
- Besides IVAW, reporter Dahr Jamil, who
concentrates on war coverage missed by the mainstream, also pulled the
Macbeth story and video clip from his web site, pending further investigation
and relaying to readers the IVAW's response.
-
- Although the controversy created by the
Macbeth video is far from over, it is just another example of how a search
for the truth requires vigilant daily reporting. By unfolding "every
once" of a story on a daily basis, the truth of course eventually
surfaces and the people are apprised exactly how it occurs, sometimes by
a very twisted and illogical turn of events like appear to be unfolding
in the Macbeth story.
-
- Further, it is wise not to cast judgments
but to follow the story trail wherever it leads.
