- TEHRAN (UPI) -- An Iranian member of parliament has alleged that $6
billion in oil revenues is missing, Iranian newspaper Siyasat-e Ruz reported
last week.
-
- Eshrat Shayeq, a member of the Majlis'
Article 90 Committee, told Fars news agency in an interview that any public
official found to be involved in the embezzling of public funds should
be held accountable for their actions.
-
- "Recently, the Audit Court presented
the audit report on the 1383 (year ending March 20, 2005) budget bill,
which pointed to numerous instances of financial offenses. A paragraph
of this report states that $6 billion from oil sold has not been deposited
in the Treasury or any other government's account, and the fate of these
funds is unknown."
-
- "For the first time in the history
of the budget audit, the Audit Court has presented an audit report on the
oil sector in a separate 100-page pamphlet," she said. "The pamphlet
points to this fact that the fate of $6 billion is unknown still. Twelve
financial advisers to the Audit Court, together with the head and public
prosecutor of the Audit Court, have confirmed the unknown fate of the fund."

authorities responsible for investigating such matters were yet to act.
-
- "It remains a question to me as
to why the related economic committees of the Majlis and the 15 economists
of the Majlis, who react swiftly to every trivial matter such as the presentation
of ten gold coins [by the Ministry of Agricultural Jihad to some Majlis
representatives], have remained silent on such a gigantic offense and are
indifferent to it," she said.
-
- "Regarding the supervisory role
of the Majlis and its duty to monitor the offenses committed concerning
the budget bill, Majlis representatives must probe into the matter. This
is to understand whether the public prosecutor of the Audit Court has conducted
an investigation into the offense, whether or not the offenders have been
made known to the judiciary, and where the related reports may be found
if the issue has been
