Carol Gotbaum's Message to America

.The New York Times seems to have confirmed what I always knew:

"After Ms. Gotbaum was taken to the holding cell, officers tried to read her her Miranda rights as she was screaming and yelling. She was left in the holding cell. Officer Woyna told investigators that he returned three or four minutes later after she had stopped screaming, found her unconscious and immediately sought help. Ms. Gotbaum was unchained and Officer Woyna tried chest compressions and mouth-to-mouth resuscitation - even after she vomited into his mouth."

Ehrlich: My opinion is that Woyna never left the holding area and that his "heroic" efforts were to cover for the wrongdoing that took place in his dealing one on one with a woman chained in front of him who would not bow to his rule. The airline and airport will pay dearly for Gotbaum had a reserved ticket for the flight, was there on time, and she was not only denied access to the next flight, they wouldn't even let another kindly passenger offer her his or her seat on the flight so she could travel as she thought her reservation guaranteed. The final straw is that when she has an emotional reaction the carrier platform attendants call the police who react as though she was a terrorist on the loose. Then when she is not compliant with those no doubt trained directly or indirectly by Blackwater personnel she either submits or face dire consequences. I am sure Woyna did not intend to do her harm but I am equally sure that he had an equal emotional reaction to Gotbaum's demeanor as she had to the carrier's. The irony is that the innocent person dies and the parties really guilty of wrongdoing live and may even receive Moabite protection.

Look at the following from the 108 page report. By the way, I could not find one reference to the mouth to mouth resuscitation (however, I read through the pdf file quickly):

Ehrlich: the underscoring is in the original. What the above shows is that she was not given her rights. It also makes no reference to the "heroic" mouth to mouth effort. It also highlights that she was truly chained like an animal to support submission on her part.

Ehrlich: Notice no mouth to mouth in the account below...

Ehrlich: The next report backfires on the Phoenix police...it shows she was not trying to get out of the handcuffs (but it shows that she was alone which I think is a lie). I really think the truth of what happened to Gotbaum in that cell is awful and the police there are circling the wagon because they all otherwise would lose their jobs. It is inconceivable that all these reports do no highlight the mouth to mouth effort or in fact hardly mention Woyna at all. Notice how the writer says that both the writer and officer may walked outside to help direct the fire department to the office. I guess it takes more than one police office to point. What the writer did is that himself right out of the picture. Moreover, the narratives do disclose that a male officer originally wanted to search Gotbaum but she screamed for a female police officer. I don't know how the Phoenix police run things but I can only tell you that all these narratives do not ring true at all to me. I think that when Carol Gotbaum died she thought she first passed through hell.

Ehrlich: The initial reports had seven officers in the detention area and suddenly each report shows that they were doing their jobs and not drinking coffee or having their doughnuts. Circle the wagons.

=== Here is the entire NY TIMES article

Ehrlich: What can I tell you but that the article is dated October 5 2007. I never saw it and I searched for the disclosure all over the place...
