- Owen Wilson's attorney has stated that the actor did
not overdose on Sunday, the day when he attempted to take his own life.
-
- Rumors that Hollywood actor Owen Wilson had been taking
drugs before slitting his left wrist are false, his attorney told Access
Hollywood yesterday. Owen did not have his stomach pumped in hospital,
as had been speculated.
-
- The attorney added that Owen had been taking anti-depressants,
but other than that, he knew of no other drugs in his system at the time
of the suicide attempt.
-
- Uncertainty over whether or not the emergency hospitalization
was due to a suicide attempt persisted until police call logs confirmed
on Tuesday it was an "attempted suicide."
-
- The Santa Monica City Attorney's office will not release
the 911 call made Sunday. Luke Wilson, Owen's younger brother, was the
one to find the actor in his home, bloody and dazed, and to call for an
ambulance, saving his life.
-
- "In reaching this decision the City believes that
in many instances no person should have to worry about whether placing
a call for emergency assistance will automatically make his or her medical
request open to public review," the City Attorney's office said in
a press release late Wednesday.
-
- Owen and his family have kept quiet on the whole matter,
understandably pleading for privacy. A curt statement from Owen, released
Monday, through his publicist, Ina Treciokas, said: "I respectfully
ask that the media allow me to receive care and heal in private during
this difficult time."
-
- While Owen recovers, physically and emotionally, his
cinematographic projects will probably be put on hold.
-
- It has already been announced that he will no longer
appear in "Tropic Thunder," a DreamWorks movie, already six weeks
into production in Hawaii.
-
- Owen had a cameo appearance in the ensemble comedy, which
stars Jack Black, Robert Downey, Jr., and Ben Stiller. Stiller, a longtime
friend of Owen's, is also directing.
-
- Fox Searchlight has announced that "The Darjeeling
Limited," a movie due for release on Sept. 29, which stars Owen Wilson,
Adrien Brody and Jason Schwartzman, will debut as planned.
-
- There had been discussions due to the fact that Owen
plays a suicidal character, bandaged throughout the film.
-
- "Following a discussion between the cast and filmmakers,
all have agreed `The Darjeeling Limited' will open as planned on September
29," Fox Searchlight said in a statement Wednesday.
-
- Owen Wilson's suicide attempt has been a shock to all.
Smiling, humorous, radiant, Owen was not the man you would ever suspect
of being profoundly unhappy Thankfully, his attempt remains just an attempt.
