- ""If the American people really knew what we
had done, we would be chased down the street and lynched." --
President George H.W.Bush to White House correspondent Sara McClendon,
1992
-
- The call initiated by patriotic citizens in Brattleboro
Vermont for the indictment of Bush and Cheney for crimes against our Constitution,
which has now passed not only in Brattleboro but also in Marlboro, Vermont.
A similar call by Laurie Dobson, US Senate candidate and resident of Kennebunkport
Maine, where the Bush,s summer, reflects the very spirit of defiance embedded
in our nation,s Declaration of Independence so desperately needed. Thank
God for brave people, every day American,s who recognize that the truth
provides the path to live a life of dignity and human decency, but only
if we understand that our freedom is not free if we are unwilling to stand
for the truth.
-
- To properly understand Brattleboro, Marloboro and Laurie,s
intrepid call is to be called upon to participate in something very unique,
American and human, for it comes from we the people, through our inalienable
rights, that we shall regain our dignity even while the majority of Congress
hypocritically breaks their Oath to defend the Constitution when they refuse
to impeach this President and Vice President. There is no excuse by Congress
not to impeach this President and Vice President, not only for numerous
misdemeanors but for many high crimes against the laws of this land, the
principles and dignity of this nation.
-
- When Congress will not do its duty, it is within the
sovereign right of the citizens of this nation to act in a dignified and
civilized manner to call for truth and justice. The call for the indictment
of Bush and Cheney is a call for a criminal investigation in the absence
of impeachment proceedings. Homeland security begins at home, where people
have the right to demand the truth. Bush and Cheney are not above the law,
and their 9/11 and other yellow cake, excuses to conduct preemptive war
will crumble as fast as those buildings disintegrated
-
- The fact of the matter is the war on terrorism has always
been a sham made especially clear when one references the State Department,s
hypocritical sponsorship of Chechen Terrorists, such as Ilse Ahkmadov.
We know the lies about WMD,s (weapons of mass destruction) were just that,
lies used as the excuse to launch preemptive war against Iraq where the
American military utilized WMD,s in the form of depleted uranium, DU, munitions
that keep on killing for millions of years, devastating the environment.
The list of war crimes including torture, that was not an isolated incident,
are numerous, systematic and not outside the purview of U.S. responsibility
when carried out by private military contractors, the multitude of mercenaries
hired by various corporations involved in the nation building charade at
U.S tax payer expense.
-
- Bush,s war is ultimately a war against the Constitutional
tradition of the United States which includes the honor of our participation
with international treaty such as the Geneva Conventions and the Nuremberg
principles designed to uphold civilization against crimes of war, to which
the Bush Administration states that Bush has the right to break. Congress,
to whom the power is given to declare war, has long ago forfeited that
right to the Presidency. Now with Presidential signing statements taking
a mockery of Congress a step further, it is time that the people support
a candidate for the Senate like Laurie Dobson, who will not forfeit Congress,s
Constitutionally defined powers, just as she will not relinquish her neighborhood
to war criminals, the notorious outlaws, G W Bush and R B Cheney.
-
- Republicans themselves should be concerned about the
power that now resides within the Executive Branch because of Bush. Do
they want Hillary or Obama to be able to disregard and change any law passed
by Congress at their whim with signing statements? The Democrats present
silence would allow a McCain presidency to continue the violations against
the Constitution. That should be a very frightening possibility to many
and the reason we need to stick to principle here in this country. Perhaps
this is why the Democrats refuse to impeach Bush: not only because such
an impeachment would embarrass them for going along with such war crimes,
but because they covet the imperial presidency themselves.
-
- We cannot wait for Congress or the election, but must
act now to make a change. The genie is out of the bottle, people across
the nation and around the globe are hearing this call for indictment, some
with derision and scorn, but many more with hope and thanks. It is hoped
that they come together to support one another in the same manner, calling
local officials to say no to war criminals, yes to accountability, responsibility
and the truth. We have a responsibility to the young of this world to abide
by principle and stop a senseless and brutal war that is dehumanizing the
integrity, honor and heritage of the United States.
-
- This is what the continuing American Revolution is about.
The patriots of Brattleboro, and Marlboro Vermont have already made an
immortal mark, a breakthrough. Now we have a person running for Senate,
Laurie Dobson who recognizes we must make such a strong stand with action.
We hope that Congress, starting with Representatives Welch (VT) and Allen
(ME), wake up and do their duties, and cease the lying and sophistry which
they parade as the latest campaign promises.
-
- We need action now as demonstrated by citizens who demonstrate
by taking the hard road, that action is not just the promises of cowards
who in the position of power have thus refused to act. This has the
possibility of reviving our nation and becoming an international effort
for Truth and Justice. Remember, true action is agitation, true patriotism
is dissent, and true Americans will vote to take their country back to
its place of honor. We do this for the fallen heroes of former days, who
would not have hesitated to do the same for us.
