- If the Bush administration really wanted to make an impact
on the ever-rising price of gasoline, it could take the very simple action
of halting its continued filling of the Strategic Petroleum Reserve.
Given the size of those almost daily US Government purchases in the world
oil market, that action (1) would have an impact on the world oil market,
(2) might halt the continuing escalation of the price of a barrel of oil,
and (3) might even bring the price at the pump down a little bit.
