- Hello Jeff - Here is the rest of the CWD story. The
site is fenced off, now we are all safe from CWD. Fencing will do it!
Total kill zones and then fence them off, that will do it, no more CWD
- right? WRONG!
-
- I cannot believe how desperate these wildlife officials
are to come up with these (so-called) 'control measures' that don't work.

- MADISON, WI -- Dozens
of white-tailed deer on a hunting preserve in Portage County have been
killed after one of them tested positive for chronic wasting disease. The
state Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection said Tuesday
that a 7-year-old doe shot in September at Alligator Creek Whitetails LLC
near Junction City had the fatal brain disease. State rules require that
farm-raised deer be tested for CWD when killed.Officials negotiated with
the herd owner on the destruction of the herd, and 64 deer were shot from
Nov. 12 to Nov. 18. Tissue samples were taken for CWD testing. The property
is being monitored to make sure no deer remain. The site must be kept fenced
for five years to keep wild deer out, with no stocking of deer or elk,
among other restrictions.
