- Bottom Line - Hunters Don't Fear CWD Diseased Meat
-
- Hello Jeff - Here it is! It's a fact, hunters don't fear
eating CWD-infected meat. 37% of hunters are eating the deer meat BEFORE
test results for CWD come back. They feed the meat to their family and
friends as well.
-
- I wonder what the people who ate CWD deer infected meat
at the NY State Firemen's picnic think of CWD infected meat now that they
actually ate it and have no idea how long an incubation period will be?

-
- Diseased deer in Alberta isn't scaring away hunters from
their sport, says a report from the University of Alberta.
-
- A survey of hunters indicated that 37 per cent of them
are eating deer meat even before the meat is tested for Chronic Wasting
Disease at provincial labs.
-
- Roughly 75 per cent of hunters are also sticking to their
usual hunting grounds, despite the confirmed presence of the brain-wasting
illness, said Natalie Zimmer, who conducted the study for her master's
degree in the university's department of rural economy.
-
- "They don't perceive the threat as highly as we
thought they would," said Zimmer in a press release.
-
- The disease is estimated to affect up to 1.6 per cent
of deer herds in Alberta, according to figures from the university.
