- If we choose to dance with the
Universe then we must learn how to Question Everything, and how to stop
living the lies that others have designed for us to suffer with. We will
all die at some point; but between birth and death there are literally
millions of opportunities to use the gifts that we all came with; not just
to improve our lives but to leave something beyond our fragile footprints
in the ever shifting sands of time.
-
- Far too many people, in the old USA simply ceased to
grow after highschool. Look around you. How many are just living out a
continuance of their highschool-lives: Fascinations, sports, maybe still
wanting to be jocks or frat-boys or sorority girls-but for so many, how
much has really changed? Highschool was supposed to provide a basis on
which we could each build a real and individual life with choices and challenges
unending?
-
- When I was senior in highschool, my majority had already
been declared, I was a legal adult with my own apartment; however I had
a legal problem that precluded me from attending college. I had football
and academic scholarships, but I could not go. After the last class had
been held with the College recruiters that had come to tempt potential
recruits for their particular schools, this hard-as-nails nun shut the
door on them and said to us:
-
- 'You know you don't really need to go to college, unless
you're planning to specialize in something very complex like being a surgeon
or a lawyer. You don't really need to go to college because all of you
already know 'how to learn what you need to know.' And your are each smart
enough to do that for yourselves.
-
- So why not just design your own lives, create your own
career for yourselves and then you will have begun to live an authentic
life. Afterall, these last few years you have each come to understand compound
thoughts and you've been monitoring critical thinking in most of the work
you've done just to get to graduation. I think that what you've come to
understand here is related to how to find and enjoy-the-hell out of life
itself. Most people don't NEED College, they never have and they never
will. And since most will spend our lives being students anyway; why complicate
it and hold yourselves back by spending a full third of your life as a
formal-student when you could already be living a real life, just after
you pick up your diploma here?'
-
- I tried to use what that nun said, from then on. So when
I was appointed to the Air Force Academy in 1959 by the then Chairman of
the Armed Services Committee, Senator Robert S. 'Bob' Kerr of Oklahoma:
I thought about it, and checked out the contract. After I discovered that
I would need to "give" the military 22 years just to become a
pilot, I declined the appointment.
-
- From that day forward I began to try and live life on
my own terms, and by and large I have never really looked back. I've also
been very lucky, so I cannot say that this is anything that I actually
did alone. Most of my highschool friends went the other way, beginning
with college. Most of those I stayed in touch with are brain-dead now;
locked into all the lies and the continual denials that haunt their every
decision, but of course some are happy as well. Each of us, in some way,
chose early on what we wanted our lives to be. And now because of this
global situation those choices, of necessity, have come up for re-examination.
In some ways these choices and the results of those choices seem so very
far away from our collective youth; and yet to many those yesterday's seem
like only an eyeblink away.
-
- Life & Death have changed me over these many years;
just as it has changed millions of others. This has happened so often that
it is impossible to know how this all happened. The trials, the failures
and the passions that each of these bits and pieces played in what has
led me to this point, were mostly unexpected. But looking back there were
many very critical changes in the course of my flawed but almost never
boring life, that I simply wanted to have and to experience.
-
- I would wish this joy for others, except that real-experience
like freedom cannot be given away to anyone else; because it must be lived
if it is to be real. All of whatever your life has been or would be, must
be lived minute by minute and day by day and choice by choice!
-
- Death comes to all of us, at some point, but it is not
death that we need to fear; rather it is the wasting of the life we were
given to do something with, that actually matters. Life is always out there
waiting to embrace us whenever we have the guts to risk everything just
to dance with universe once more. That can only happen after we have learned
to trust both ourselves and the universe which is represented by this LIFE
that can be the most challenging part of what our individual lives have
always been about. However for those that never chose to leave their teenage
years, I can feel nothing; because they are still laboring to AVOID every
opportunity to use their gifts for anything except their own myopic selves.
For far too many the MOTTO of their lives can be summed up this way: "Instant
gratification takes too long"!
-
- For those that have adopted this point
of view 'life' has been reduced to one long shopping spree in a world without
content or convictions and where neither 'joy' nor 'pleasure' are able
to find any place to exist. For most of those that chose this path their
lives are just a loop of continuous "roles" which they play at
fulfilling in the unseen-movie they wrote and directed and are now starring
in. This problem looks a lot like Facebook and all those mini-websites
that feature them and all their favorite things: millions if not billions
of pages but without a real script or any real challenges: Mostly it's
just reports sort of like postcards from the edge of their own private
oblivion. Given these conditions it becomes very hard to detect the 'life'
beneath the posturing. It is really beyond sad that so many failed to pick
up their personal torches that could have helped them to choose life over
safety, living over artificial-security and freedom over slavery. So now
when the choice of resistance over UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER is waiting in
the wings for our decisions: This becomes very difficult for way too many.
-
- Life, just like Freedom is not free. It makes demands
on all of us and what we each decide can make all the difference in the
world. If we choose not to fight for the freedom that was your birthright,
then while you might still be able to breathe and eat and sleep, for all
intents and purposes you are dead already. And as for your so-called life,
that can be nothing but dead-birds and broken glass as far as the eye can
see, and your life will be consumed by the ashes of the fires you will
have enabled by failing not just yourselves but the wider world of which
we are all a part; as well!
-
- The book of life is ours to write and edit as well as
to review and live for ourselves. It is available to each of us according
to our choices. It is this "right" that the STATE has STOLEN
from each and every one of us. No part of our lives still belongs to us:
Because inside every word, every deed, and every thought there is this
foreign-agent who is always present. The STATE has taken charge of REALITY
and that now rules over everything we must now do according to their dictates-and
this is no longer in doubt.
-
- It's time to fight, but how to do that when you've spent
your life avoiding the inconvenient truths that now clutter-up your every
thought? Still the day may yet come, but only if and when we finally decide
to "question everything" AGAIN!
