Another Israeli Anti-BDS Conference

By Stephen Lendman

Israel is its own worst enemy. Growing BDS effectiveness terrifies its rogue leadership - hardline racist lunatics in charge, ruling by intimidation and state terror.

A late March Stop the Boycott conference in Jerusalem featured state-sponsored misinformation and Big Lies. On May 31, a similar event is scheduled.

A so-called “international summit” will be held at the UN General Assembly, transformed into a pro-Israeli echo-chamber for the event, led by notorious hate-mongering opponent of Palestinian self-determination Danny Danon, Israel’s UN envoy.

Its New York mission, the World Jewish Congress, Keren Hayesod, American Center for Law & Justice, Israel Bonds, StandWithUs, Hillel, the Anti-Defamation League, the Zionist Organization of America, B’nai B’rith International and other pro-Israeli groups co-sponsored the event.

It intends spreading the Big Lie about BDS promoting anti-Semitism and wanting Israel destroyed. Around 1,500 students, academics, politicians and others will attend.

Danon maliciously turned truth on its head, calling BDS “the modern incarnation of antisemitism.” The New York “summit (sic) will bring together (a hand-picked) international coalition (sic) against the boycott movement, and will send a clear message to all our adversaries,” he said.

“Israel will not relent and will continue to reveal the lies (sic) propagated by the BDS movement.” Speakers include a rogue’s gallery of supporters of Israel’s worst crimes.

Their aim is manipulating young minds, feeding them Israeli propaganda, brainwashing them irresponsibly, wanting them used as state-sponsored tools against regional peace, equity and justice.

BDS terrifies Israel because it works, increasingly gaining momentum and influence. Around 23,000 supporters signed an appeal to the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, protesting Israel’s war on BDS.

In part, it said “(w)e, the undersigned citizens concerned about human rights and democracy, appeal (for) action…to ensure (the rights of) individuals, groups, associations, public and private institutions and local governments participating in (BDS to) freely express their opinion and act for Palestinian human rights without unlawful interference or repression.”

BDS supports the right to pursue nonviolent resistance against Israeli high crimes, long denied Palestinian self-determination, and persecution too serious to ignore.

Democratic freedoms include the right to boycott and express views freely. Yet Israel and US-led Western states “undermine the right of human rights defenders (by) delegitimization and intimidation” measures, including “undemocratic laws, false allegations of racism, and attacks on the safety and integrity of persons.”

The Palestinian BDS National Committee urges UN condemnation of these type lawless practices, violating UN Charter principles and other fundamental human rights laws.

BDS isn’t going away. It’s a vital initiative for combating Israeli viciousness. It deserves universal support against a regime threatening world peace and security.
