Israeli Double Standard On Terrorism

By Stephen Lendman
1-8-17

Among countries its size, none matches its brutality against people it controls - treated viciously for praying to the wrong God.

None its size is a greater perpetrator of state terror domestically and abroad, none more unaccountable for Nuremberg-level crimes, none more arrogantly dismissive, none more offensive to allies as adversaries alike.

On January 7, London’s Daily Mail reported a plot by Israel’s embassy in London to “take down” Britain’s Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson’s deputy Alan Duncan.

“(B)ombshell” video footage, covertly filmed, caught Mossad operative Shai Masot red-handed - “egged on by a senior aide to another (Tory) minister, Robert Halfon,” the Daily Mail reported, adding:

“The video comes in a film claiming to expose the way that the Israeli government has ‘infiltrated’ both the Conservative and Labour parties via its embassy in the UK, using secret cash and covert support.”

“Further footage shows the Israeli diplomat, intelligence expert Shai Masot, telling senior Labour MP Joan Ryan that he has obtained ‘more than £1 million’ to pay for sympathetic Labour MPs to visit Israel.”

Threatening Alan Duncan was over his criticism of Israeli policy. He was described in the video footage as causing “problems.”

Israeli ambassador Mark Regev’s apology rang hollow. In his mind and other Netanyahu officials, Israel’s only crime is getting caught. Even then, nothing deters repeated wrongdoing on an appalling scale - especially against defenseless Palestinians.

Defending themselves against Israeli viciousness is automatically called terrorism. Even an incident as disturbing as driving a truck into a group of Israeli soldiers is described this way - without any knowledge of a driver’s motive, lethally shot on the spot so he can’t explain.

An East Jerusalem resident identified as Fadi Ahman Hamdan al-Qunbar killed four soldiers, injuring over a dozen other people on Saturday.

The incident happened in the city’s Armon HaNetziv neighborhood. A police spokesperson automatically called the incident an act of terrorism.

Citing no corroborating evidence, Netanyahu called al-Qunbar an ISIS “supporter” - a group Israel actively supports.

A late Sunday afternoon security cabinet meeting will convene to discuss the incident and other issues. Expect harsh retaliation against Palestinians uninvolved in what happened.

Israel acts extrajudicially on the phony pretext of defending national security. Palestinian resistance against its viciousness is automatically called “terrorism.”
